🥨 Homemade Simit with Royal Date Syrup
Ingredients (dough)
- Flower
- Lukewarm water
- Yeast
- Salty
- Olive oil
- For the coating
- Royal Organic Date Syrup (Royal date syrup)
- Water
- Sesame seeds
Preparation
- Making dough
- Combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Add lukewarm water and a dash of olive oil and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
- Cover and let rise until the dough has doubled in volume.
Forms
Divide the dough into equal pieces. Roll each piece into long strands and twist two strands together to form a simit (ring) shape.
Royal coating (pomegranate syrup substitute)
Mix Royal date syrup with water until it forms a liquid, slightly syrupy mixture.
First dip each simit in this mixture.
Sesame layer
- Immediately roll the wet simit in the sesame seeds so that it is well coated.
Baking
- Place the simit on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven until golden brown and crispy.
Serve
Serve the simit warm on a tray with:
A bowl of Royal date syrup
Spoon for dipping
